Common Issues
Some of the most common issues that are presented to a coach are that of Anxiety, Depression and stress related difficulties. Although these conditions are common, to the sufferer they are uncomfortable and often debilitating and can interrupt the flow of life causing all kinds of overwhelming emotional and physical feelings. There are many ways in which receiving coaching can benefit the sufferer for example through the use of Motivational Counselling, CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Basic Psychoanalysis, NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming, Self Hypnosis and Relaxation. Harriet has been trained to use these diffrent apprcahes when working with clients.

Anxiety
Anxiety is characterised by a feeling of uneasiness such as worry and fear. It can effect people differently and can be either mild or severe depending on how it interferes with your daily life. We all feel anxious at some point in our lives however when these feelings are ongoing they can become problematic.
Anxiety can cause a range of uncomfortable physical symptoms such as muscle tension, headaches, insomnia. During a panic attack a person may experience these unpleasant feelings - palpitations (heart racing, skipping a beat), sweating, shaking, trembling, feeling shortness of breath, chest pains or tightness, nausea or gastrointestinal problems. Each of us are different and therefore may experience fear and panic in our own way.
Life coaching can work postivley and effectively for people who suffer from anxiety by first working through any deep rooted emotional issues that may be causing the feelings and then working on CBT- Cognitive Behavior Therapy to observe and deal with any negative thought patterns.
NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming and self hypnosis are highly effective for changing responses and visualising new perceptions.
Depression
Depression is defined in general as low mood that lasts for a long time and that interferes and affects your daily life.
Most of us feel low from time to time however if we experience a low mood for too long, and we feel that life is not as worthwhile as it should be we may question if we are suffering from a mild form of depression. Feelings of sadness and misery are common and usually pass but if these feelings do not go away after some time then you maybe experinecing depression.
Severe depression can be debilitating and affect your entire life. You may experience insomnia, or excessive sleeping, irritability, loss of interest in activities that you used to enjoy, hopelessness, persistent negative thoughts, thoughts of death or even suicide. Many people with depression may also have feelings of anxiety.
It is important to seek support and gain help. Visiting your Doctor would be initially recommended who may suggest a talking therapy.
Life coaching is proven to be beneficial to sufferers of depression , using the tool box of interventions to help bring you back on track.
Stress
We all experience stress in our lives. In the fast paced world we live in stress has become a part of our daily living and can be positive and motivational.
However when we experience negative stress that is ongoing it can have serious long lasting effects on our health and well being.
Some of the most common problems that are presented to a Life coach which are the cause of stress in a person's life may be - A divorce, the death of a loved one, loss of a job, financial difficulties, getting married, moving house, chronic illness or injury, emotional problems such as depression, anxiety, anger. grief, guilt, low self esteem.
